In 2024, a research team comprising of Dr. Rajiv Jhangiani, Oya Pakkal, Laurie Morrison, and Dr. Wenting Rong designed and conducted a survey of undergraduate students at Brock University (REB File #23-243). The survey investigated the impact of course material costs on a range of educational outcomes, strategies used by students to address these costs, the amount of time spent searching for affordable materials, and the perceived usefulness of course materials. The survey also explored related questions, including students’ preferences related to the format of learning materials and additional barriers they face in their education.
